    Default What do you collect?

    Me:

Star Wars - mainly just the 3.5" figures, but some deluxe sets as well.
McFarlane's Sportspicks - mainly certain NFL figs but I have a couple NBA as well
McFarlane's Napoleon Dynamite - had the complete first set, disappointed to hear they cancelled this line.
McFarlane's 12" - Just have a couple right now, Alien and Predator
McFarlane's Alien/Predator - very limited collection now, looking to expand in the future
Neca's Cult Classics - mainly just stuff that really interests me, more of the horror genre
    Movie Maniacs - various stuff
Mezco's Attack of the Living Dead - complete first wave + exclusive B&W set.
Simpsons - Faces of Springfield line, Bendables, ornaments, pez, etc.
Hallmark Ornaments - various stuff, always get the SWs though.
Sideshow - select 12", horror mainly
Hot Wheels - don't really collect, but I have several cars that I think are sweet (i.e. Enzo, Saleen, Viper, Carerra GT etc.)
DVDs - I have a fairly large dvd library. My favorite genre is Horror. I always get the special editions, gift sets, and etc. I'm a sucker for those.

300 - nothing yet, but I am going to start that collection really soon!

Thats mainly it for me. I pick up random stuff every now and then but thats about it, or all I can think of right now. Most of my collection is carded or sealed in pack but I do have a fair amount of stuff that is loose as well.

I just do SW for now, but the 3.75 line, GH, some unleashed, all titaniums (sans repaints) and some vehicles.

I do get some stuff that looks cool. I have a few Simpsons figures and such, also the Yellow submarine line.

    I collect:

Star Wars, just the basic figures and whatever vehicles Hasbro puts out to go with them. Ive been with the line since 1995 when i had to buy figures with my paper route money. This is the last line i will drop. Once that happens, i dont know if i will collect anymore.

Avatar the Last Airbender, my favorite cartoon series running at the moment. The figures are cool. Not sure how long the line will last, i guess it depends on how far they try to go with the cartoon. But the upcoming movie(s) could extend that.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, just the occasional figure that catches my eye. This is the least stressful of all the toy lines i collect or have collected.

Transformers, random figures. Mainly animal ones.

Masters of the Universe, ive got a list of about 25 figures that i want, then i'll be done with this line. Still kicking myself for getting into it years after the line had ended.

Theres other toys i pick up here and there, but currently those are the main things.

This is a good one! I collect a lot of things, but since we’re talkin’ toys...

Back when I started fooling around with this hobby, I was looking for mostly just vintage toys -- vintage Japanese toys in particular. My focus has evolved into a mixed bag of mainly Sci-fi toys, with a few significant deviations. (Mainly the odd movie, horror or really good comic book inspired item.)

In the past I’ve collected: Vintage Japanese vinyl toys of various heroes, monsters and robots. Vintage plastic and die-cast toys, which include Bandai, Popy or Bullmark figures and vehicles. Most of that stuff has gotten hard to find and too expensive, so I started picking up the odd modern reissue. I’ve collected Microman figures since around 2000. I picked up a few Takara Neo Henshin Cyborg figures. Earlier I started hunting down Micronauts. I have a small collection, but I’ll probably start adding to it again soon. I’ve also got a decent spread of vintage Shogun Warriors toys, including various die-cast figures, and one or two larger figures.

I was very serious about collecting Transformers from around the Beast Wars time, but my interest dropped off a few years ago. I try to pick up one or two figures from each new line, but there hasn’t been much imagination coming from Transformers in a while -- seems to just be going in circles, rehashing old ideas. I started thinning my collection, and selling off a lot of items, but I’ve held onto my Japanese Beast Wars stuff. (Really love the packaging.)

I’d gone through a big Gundam phase, back when Bandai was putting out all of those great early show figures. (I bought a lot of those for my son to play with also. They were/are really good toys.) Other toy lines have included Playmates Star Trek line, Trendmasters Mars Attacks, Toy Biz Resident Evil, Kenner Aliens, the odd McFarlane horror or Sci-fi figure (Alien stuff in particular.)

Speaking of McFarlane, I have to give credit to them for getting me into collecting modern toys. The Manga Spawn line was the first line that I was really a completist with. I had all of it, but sold it all off when I got tired of seeing them break the second they left the bubble. Just the same, McFarlane was the first to make a Leatherface figure. That counts for a lot with me.

The next big line to hook me was obviously Kenner (then Hasbro) Star Wars. At first I hated the line, and only bought maybe one or two figures, but as they moved away from doing those big chest he-man style figures, I got more interested. My collection grows and shrinks as I always decide to thin things out -- keeping only my favorite -- over time. (I tend to give a lot of it to my son also.)

So, now it’s pretty much the same thing. I’ve never considered my self a completist -- more of a samplist really. Now I’m looking at Star Wars (Hasbro) -- though it seems like it, I don’t exactly buy everything. Marvel Legends (ToyBiz) -- obviously this is coming (has come) to an end. Still hunt around for the odd figure that I missed. DC Superheroes (Mattel) -- So far so good. Be great if the line evolved beyond Batman and Superman though. Various NECA -- Resident Evil, film lines like Sin City, POTC, House of a 1000 corpses, Grindhouse (maybe), and the odd Cult Classics figure. I’m curious to see how the Harry Potter stuff looks also.

You know, really I’m down for anything that meets the three qualities that make up a good toy for me: looks good, made well, and fun to play with. Aside from what I’ve listed, I hunt around for various Japanese candy toys (mostly Ultraman and Godzilla, but I’m all for something unusual.) I dig Kubricks and Be@rbricks. I’ve started dipping into the designer vinyl world just a little -- picking up the odd Kid Robot Dunny here and there.

Probably others, and I’ll more than likely ramble about them here or my(space) blog.

right now my "regular" toy buying consists of:

Transformers Classics: i currently have the better optimus, bumblebee, hotrodimus, starscream, mirage, grimlock, ramjet, and the ultra mag/skywarp two-pack. i won't buy all the repaints, but for instance i'm looking forward to thundercracker.

MezCo's Comic Hellboy: an assortment of four figures every year based on one of my favorite comic books? sure, i can handle that! still looking for my abe sapien... he's been absent for two series now!

Hasbro Spider-man: everyone's down on the hasbro marvel figures, but i was impressed with the "iron spider" figure that came out of the spider-man: origins line, and i bought a couple of the repaints that i didn't have. the new movie line is also being grumbled about everywhere, but i'm enjoying the five figures i've picked up so far.

Anything Really Cool: anything else that piques my curiosity, like "red son superman", or "war within optimus" titanium (both of which reside on my desk at work...) looking forward to getting "red son wonder-woman" to go with supes, "shaun of the dead" and "v for vendetta".

    Me:

Star Wars - I want to build dioramas so I buy 3.5" figures, their vehicles, Galactic Heroes, and SideShow 12". I also get the majority of Master Replicas FX Lightsabers.

McFarlane's Terminator Figures- I got the 7" figures for displaying. I really like the Terminator movies.

Art Asylum / Diamond Select's Star Trek figures - I also bought for scenes from Enterprise, TOS, TOS movies (upcoming) TNG movies, and Deep Space Nine. I have a ton of Playmates stuff from the previous licensor (nearly all of it and multiples for dioramas).

Transformer Alternators / Master Pieces - I have 12 in total now - being very selective of buying the important characters and all to scale with one another. I wasn't going to buy Transformers again, but the Alt line and the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime battled down my resistance so much! I'm looking forward to the movie with cautious hope, but I don't plan on buying the movie products. Alts and MPEs are of much higher quality and better scale proportions.

DVDs / VHS - I have a huge movie library that I keep in chronological order from "A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away" through the 24th Century and Star Trek Nemesis. I prefer war, action, and drama with intellectual stimulation, but I own the occasional comedy. I have every episode of every live-action Star Trek series. I also buy Smallville, The Shield, Miami Vice, The A-Team, and own Band of Brothers.

Star Wars Comics / Books - I have all the Dark Horse entries and the Bantam-Spectra / Del Rey novels. I know some are awful, but many are wonderful! I love that there's continuity.

Haven't we all collected or still collect things? My brothers collected bottles, candy paper, nails, etc.
I myself used to collect strange rocks (ok, ANYTING YOU CAN NAME REALLY)
Today, I collect candles, preferably those who have a nice smell, and of course...note books...
The note books I understand, but not the candles..?
Do you collect something that you just "have to have" when you see it somewhere?
Or, do you know anybody who collects strange things?
