Playmobil. Yesterday, today and beyond.

Thought we might have had a Playmo-thread at some point, but I can't remember now...

STILL waiting for those Roman sets to turn up, but I did manage to score the "Roman Fighter" (4659) figure at Target a few days ago. Great stuff! Now where are the rest of the Romans?

The Romans should be coming anyday. I know they were supposed to be released in the US in August. I've already picked up a couple of Roman Fighters myself. If you're a pirate fan keep an eye on Target. They're going to be getting some pretty cool pirate sets.

I found a really cool carded Roman and Gladiator 2-pack at Target today. (Pics to come.) Very nice! I had no idea that we'd be seeing carded figures here.

No new pirates, but they did have a bunch of new Knights that looked great.

That's a great set PF. I picked up all 4 of the 2-packs. I hope Playmobil makes more of these.

Things have been a little dry lately... nothing new Playmo-wise. Still looking for new Roman stuff, but haven't seen much.

I agree with you about how cool those 2-packs are Gothmog. I love that idea. We also picked up the set with the cop and robber. Probably get the others at some point... but no hurry.

Wasn't PM's whole push this year going to be Gladiatoresque? Seem to remember that in their pics from Toy Fair.

Yeah... the Roman theme was (is) a big deal for the year. There's been a few odd items trickling out so far, but nothing major has hit the shelves at mass retail.

...at mass retail anyway. The small local shop the I visit just received a huge shipment of new items, including such awesomeness as the Roman Galley (4276).

I have a funny feeling that Playmobil is probably not a big priority for the larger stores, so we might not see Romans at Target, etc. 'til just before the holidays.

I've seen all the new Roman sets in the small specialty stores. I'm not sure we'll ever see them in the big retailers. Playmobil.com also has a shop that has all of them in stock at the moment. The Playmobil store in Orlando FL has them all and some of the sets that are out in Europe that we won't see in local shops until next year. They used to do mail order if you called them but I'm not sure if they still do.

If you checkout the German Playmobil site you'll see some addition add-ons to the Roman theme that look pretty cool.

Lots of cool new stuff coming from Playmobil. Here's a link to the Toy Fair Gallery. I took a lot of photos. The Dinosaurs are great and the Circus is pretty cool but my favorite thing was the lighthouse for the Pirate theme.

Also found the new two packs at Toys 'r us and Target. New Gladiators, Pirates, Knights and Mer-people.

If you haven't heard yet the new stuff coming out in Germany this year (in the US 2009) is incredible. Egyptians and Undersea Adventure sets. Playmobil actually used one of my ideas for this set:
