Default Marvel's Legendary Comic Book Heroes hitting Denver!

Just got news from Marvel that the new Legendary Comic Book Heroes will be hitting in the Denver area early:

    [SIZE=2]
Select Wal-Mart stores in the Denver area are receiving an early
shipment of Legendary Comic Book Heroes. The shipment includes both
Series 1 & Series 2 and should hit shelves in the next couple of weeks.
Legendary Comic Book Heroes will be more widely available in other
regions & retailers closer to fall. But if you can't wait, I hear
Denver is lovely this time of year! Get in line for full sets with
variants, and be one of the first to build Pitt & Monkey Man.
    Happy Hunting!!
    Marvel Toys

If you haven't heard of or seen these figures then checkout our Toy Fair Gallery. Having seen them in person I'll say these figures are awesome and will leave the Marvel Legends collectors yearning for the good ol' days of the Toy Biz ML line.

Hey, anytime Gothmog, if I run along any new imagery of Series 2 I'll I'll be sure to put those up as well. This line is looking very promising.

Not exactly a complaint, but this seems to be even more random than the Marvel Legends. At least they (mostly) fall within the same universe. People who actually want all the individual figures and the build-a-figures will be rare indeed.

Personally, I want Dragon, Superpatriot, and probably Dredd. Not a huge Madman fan, hate Cyberforce, and don't even know who the half-naked chick is (though she looks like some crap Silvestri came up with). And PITT? Well, did his second issue ever actually come out? (Sorry for stealing your anti-PITT jab, vynnie.)

i think it's a BRILLIANT strategy. if people want the BAF, they have to buy all the figures, even the ones they couldn't care less about. they can sell the ones they don't want on eBay or whatever, but at least marvel toys' bottom line says they sold them.

heh... i doubt i'm the only one saying something like that on the inturwebs anyway.

as for me, i'm looking forward to the dragon(s), superpatriot, and madman from the first series, and star and marv from the second series. i might get the clownface/panda box, but it's iffy. there are some good pics here:

managed to snag the wife-beater variant dragon, both versions of superpatriot and madman last week on a walmart trip that i didn't intend to take. gotta say, they are freakin' awesome. i'm also seriously considering finishing off PITT because he's just going to be HUGE.

series 3 was apparently revealed at SDCC07, and i have to say they may have lost me on this go-round... i think i want one out of the entire series - vangaurd, another character from the savage dragon. other than that, it's apparently a conan series, with mean machine angel bringing up the rear from judge dredd. oh, and aphrodite ix... as if i care. basically, they got me for three (okay, four, but one is the variant that i doubled up on. didn't even get the other version of the dragon) from the first series, they'll get me for two of the second series (marv and star, although the figure of ann o'brien actually looks REALLY impressive. the face looks great.) and now one from series 3 out of the four that have been revealed. maybe there will be one or two more announced that will hype me up, but i doubt it. i'm hoping for a nice series or two of invincible figures out of this line. i know a LOT of people who would buy those up at the drop of a hat!

well, i actually ended up buying a case of each series online. received them yesterday and they are pretty freakin' awesome. the BAF's are really cool, PITT is just massive. monkeyman, not as much, and next to ann (who's a little taller than every other figure, i think) doesn't look as impressive, but on his own he's rather large.

there are some figures that i'm surprised to like - "the darkness", while a rather lame character, is very finely detailed, and ripclaw (the cyberforce worlverine knock-off) is also well done. marv is a bit disappointing due to how dark he is - they could've used a bit more white paint wash to really make all the intricate detailing pop. i'm also really liking judge dredd and judge death - very cool looking figures, with a lot of detail you just don't get from other lines.

it's a shame that series 3 was canned. sure, the lineup didn't really impress me, but i'm sure there were a bunch of people salivating for them. i also had a vision of a BAF big guy from "big guy and rusty the boy robot" with rusty as a bit more articulated kind of pack-in like "timmy" with PITT. that would've rocked. oh, well.
