I hear ya. Sometimes I feel the same way, just want to get some sleep. But I will usually put on a movie while I goto sleep and end up watching the whole damn thing.

    Default OK, ok, ok...

Watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou the other night (for like the 6th time) while folding laundry with the wife. Might go rent Resident Evil: Extinction to watch (again) tonight...

Well (just back from the video store), of the three I think it was the best. which isn't saying too much, because I don't think any of them live up to how great the games are. But still, I think it's a fun enough zombie movie to watch. (Curious to see if they decide to do a fourth film or not.)

I'll probably sit and watch it with the kid now... no school tomorrow... ice cream and zombies.

(Bought 2 for $20 at Hollywood video. The other film was Silent Hill... which again, was not great, but a fun enough horror film. Won't be watching that with the kid. )

I still enjoy the first RE film the most, over the rest. I did enjoy Extinction, but after watching it, it appears that they made it with the sole purpose of leading into the fourth film; which had better happen! I did love the ending of Extinction, just incredible, and it had better (actually) lead into a 4th film, like I said, or I will be pi**ed something fierce. I never was a huge fan of the games, just limited playing experience (as I have mentioned in posts past), so I take them for what they are. But yeah, all of the movies are good zombie fun. No doubt about that. Milla Jovovich is incredible and totally owns the role of Alice (from what I've gathered). If I had to rank them, I would go 1 and have 2 and 3 tied, for different reasons. Nemesis was just a beast in the second one, gotta give that character some props. The third had a lot more action, more gore and better/more effects (if I remember correctly), and the way it set up future installments was just brilliant. Good stuff, definitely have enjoyed the franchise thus far.

Bloody awesome! Sounds like a great time! Have fun!

Silent Hill, was a pretty decent movie. I have only seen it a couple of times, but I recall the environment being very eerie, creepy, but that they didn't utilize it to it's full potential. This frustrated the crap outta me when I first watched it; I felt it could have been a lot scarier than it was. I know kh really enjoys this movie.

Yeah, it's tough really. They each have some good and some lame elements. The thing about the games were that it was a great mix of "classic" zombie horror, plus this really fun adventure. The first two films lacked the game's suspense, and though the third had a bit more, it wasn't a "typical" Resident Evil sort of story... more of a Mad Max kind of thing.

That's not terrible, but a part of me really wished that they'd followed a structure more similar to the games. Which is what Silent Hill did I suppose...

I totally agree about all of that. It had great atmosphere, and was super creepy, but just seemed to fizzle out at the end.

I've never played any of the Silent Hill games, so I'm not sure how true the film was to them. I saw the movie in the theater when it came out, so after I give it another viewing maybe I'll have more to say.

I love Silent Hill. One of my favorite horror flicks in years. A bit long, but it was real close to the games(1 anyway). I watch it alot, have it on my DVR.

Speaking of horror movies, I watched 30 Days of Night the other day. It was pretty good. Definitely one of the better horror moves to come out as of late, IMO. I've actually watched it again, since my original posting at SSG. Here are my thoughts that I posted regarding the movie:

The time-line one is rather understandable, but it seemed like days were passing on a random basis. One frame would be 7 days in, the next would be like 18, without anything to signify or denote a changing of the day or days. So this was kind of strange, but nothing that really takes away from the film; obnoxious maybe, but like I said, understandable (given the movie takes place over a span of 30 days). Just looks like they would have done it a little different. Anyways, moving along. The ending was... meh. I'm not going to go in depth here, because of spoilers, but I enjoyed the ending on one level, but didn't like it on another. The acting was ok for a horror movie, nothing special. Ben Foster was great though, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite (lesser-known) actors. The vampires were really cool. The movie was good fun, good for a couple of scares, lots of blood and gore and some pretty killer special effects, pun intended.

While watching the movie I decided that it is kind of like The Descent mixed with The Thing; really good creepy monsters that attack with a vengeance and a very desolate wintry environment/location. If this sounds good to you, then you will probably enjoy the movie, like I did.
Definitely worth a watch, for fans of the genre.
