    Default Marvel Legends (Hasbro)

I'll start this one off on an up note...

I picked up the Ultimate Iron Man figure for my 9 year old son, and though I'm still trying to decide if I like it, (perhaps I'm just not wild about this particular Iron Man costume -- very boring) he seems to be having a lot of fun with it.

(Pics of Iron Man in the Database >> here.)

On the one hand, there's something... I dunno... bland feeling about these new Marvel Legends figures. something to do with the very simplistic way they've handled the paint I suppose. Tony Stark's face/head sculpt is pretty bad (as is typical with most Iron Man figures.) There's limited torso, ankle and wrist articualtion.

On the other hand, the figure is made from some very good materials, and though I don't want to play the whole "Toy Biz vs. Hasbro" game, Hasbro has managed to fix some of the problems like super weak elbows and knees that often ruined Toy Biz figures.

So... the long and the short of it is that these are more play friendly, but much less display friendly. I'm seriously considering buying a Hercules figure now though, given that I'm actually kind of impresed by how well built Iron Man is. I'd like to get Banshee, and maybe Planet Hulk... perhaps even X3 Beast to get me one step closer to building that Annihilus. Problem is, the Emma Frost figure is one of the ugliest that I've seen, which means I may wait 'til she and the others go on clearance.

Looking ahead to Hasbro ML wave 2, I'm just a little excited. Yellow Jacket, Quicksilver and She-Hulk look good. Maybe even Thor... but the rest I'll skip for sure. I don't care for the Blob figure either.

hey, just wanted to say, if anyone's got an extra banshee from hml1 on their hands that they're going to use for customs, but don't need his arms, i could use them - i want to put his arms on my ASM electro to give him some better articulation, because he's an awesome figure other than the gimmick arms.

I may have nice things to say about this line... maybe.

I've picked up Yellowjacket and Quicksilver from series 2, and my first impressions are that they're pretty decent. Not perfect, but good.

I'll be playing with them a bit, and shooting some photos, so I'll decide more in time...

So it appears that Legends will be working their way back to shelves, trickling next year, and flowing in 2012. I do not know how I feel about this as I have tried to move on with the 3 3/4" MU line. I hope they still would want to complete the Classic X-men #1 cover that they seemed to have started. Honestly, I do not want to buy 2 versions of every character, though.
